I recently found a great way to distribute my content to Twitter and Facebook at the best times for the most exposure to my followers. Buffer has made this possible. With Buffer you connect your accounts and it allows you to store postings until specified times, usually the most optimal time that your posting will get the most exposure. You can change the times in the settings.
Buffer is great, but it is all manual. In walks Ifttt.com (if this than that). This service allows you to create recipes that pulls content that is posted on one social media platform and sends it to another. For example, you can set up a recipe that pulls any of the tweets that you have favored and send them to Evernote. Or you can set up another recipe that pulls your stared articles in Google Reader and sends them as tweets on Twitter.
I set up a recipe that pulls my feed and sends it to Buffer. This way when I publish a blog post, it is then sent to Buffer and saved to go out at an optimal time when it will get the most exposure.
I find this handy in a lot of ways. There are many web and social media apps that we use each and everyday. As one person it is very hard to manage them all at one time. If you are not surrounded by a team of people, you can waste a lot of time connecting on each and every site each and every day. Sometimes automating daily tasks can allow you to become more productive and allow you to spend more time creating great content, or making genuine connections.
If you have used Buffer and Ifttt, how are you using it? Do you have any creative recipes?
