The Blogosphere

Speed up your PC

I would just like to share my take aways from my first conference I attended Blogging While Brown. I am not sure how other conferences are, but I do know that they should be a necessity to all bloggers. If you have not been to one, you should make plans to at least attend one.

The biggest take away was that I am important, I matter, and I am wanted in the Blogosphere. I did not get this message from any of the speakers, although they had great messages. I got this from the since of community. Before I went to this conference, I felt like I was just a blogger with a ton of information. I am only active in one community, Momdot. But even there you can get the feeling of “being just another one”. But at the conference, people were genuinely interested in me and my blog. Not only me, but each person that attended. The Blogosphere is such a huge place. We should never limit ourselves to one corner unless we have limited expectations.

I also learned that there is so much more out there than just blogging. Blogging is only about 1/2 of this huge social media world. We need to open our eyes because success does not come with our eyes closed. We don’t need to sit back in the cut to get a piece of this ever growing fish. We are social media experts, get out there and get your piece. It really doesn’t matter what your numbers are to make money, it matters who you network with.

Lastly, I hope everyone has learned this somewhere online about your blog—- Content is king and networking will keep you alive.

My favorite sentence in this entire post…”We are social media experts, get out there and get your piece.” That has always been been my outlook. I started out mommy blogging and decided to branch out. It’s not easy, but I’m happier.

Good stuff Jess. It is easy to feel irrelevent even more so when you are new to blogging. But knowing you have something to give and getting out there to network is key. Well said.
