Dear PR Rep,
Apparently you have not read my blog. If you had, you would see that I do not blog for free. See I wrote Why Would I Blog For You a couple weeks back. You should read it after reading this. This is my blog. If you want your clients sponsored content on my blog, you can help out with the costs of my blog in terms of a payment. Blogs are not free. Us bloggers pay for hosting, domain names, site design, and spend hours upon hours per day promoting and writing on our blog. If you want a little piece of our hard work you will have to pay for it.
I am on this rant after receiving, yet another, stupid email from a PR rep. Here is part of it:
The folks at {name of company} have put together a couple of fun new exclusive articles. Feel free to use on your blog or site. All we ask is for a link back to {name of company}.
This was a mass email sent to many bloggers. The bad part of this is that there are bloggers gullible enough to work for this company and their client for free. What magazine do you know that will advertise for you for free? What website do you know will advertise for you for free?
I only post stuff that is relevant to me and my family. Things that actually interest me. My blog is about sharing my thoughts with my readers. Not someone else.
Thank you,
Jessica

you tell them Jess! I was just ranting about that last week, and worse they don’t even have the decency to send you a personal email with your name on it. They send this mass email hoping someone would bite.

Good for you Jessica…stand your ground !
My blogs are free, I don’t get paid for anything I post and I like it that way ! It’s my hobby and a way to keep track of what I’ve done couponing, cooking and baking and family wise too. I just delete that kind of stuff when I get it…I’ve even gotten stuff from other countries trying to get me to post their junk…so annoying !!!
Have a fabulous weekend !

I understand what you are saying. See, I do post things for free, but without companies asking, and it is not a pre-written article. It will be something I come across that actually reflects me or my family. But just getting random emails is so annoying. If we all just keep deleting them, others that don’t know any better will post the crap. If we speak out about it and saying no, it becomes viral, and others will see that the PR companies need to stop thinking they can get their clients stuff on the poor mommy bloggers blogs for free.
I so am finally starting to learn when to say NO or OKAY but here are my advertising rates!!! You GO GIRL!!
