There are so many social networking sites out there. It makes it hard to know which sites will help you feel at home. Ideally you would want to spend your time online where you feel most comfortable or where most of your family and friends hangout. Logically the social networks with the most users are where most people find their online home. The larger the social network the more exposure a brand, site or company can generate. Especially if it is easy for users to share content. From my experience and a content creator and social network user, I have created a list of the top 10 social networking sites that you should be at least somewhat active on.
Facebook- This is a no brainer Most people including your grandparents are on Facebook. It’s easy to share information, create events and follow brands.
Pinterest- You may not think Pinterest is a social network, but it is centered around saving and sharing all kinds of stuff. It’s so weird that just by surfing and pinning for a day can inspire me to go shopping for DIY crafts or make a dish just because it looks good.
Twitter- This is a widely used social network. My analogy of Twitter is like walking into a room of 100′s of people and shouting something out. Those who see your tweet may respond, others will just look past it. The only thing I don’t like about Twitter is that it seems to have become a bit spammy with most of the people that I follow tweeting a link every other tweet.
Instagram- You may not think of Instagram as a very popular social network but believe me it is. My daughters friend created $20,000 worth of income by utilizing Instagram. Sharing a story by pictures is amazing. A picture is worth a thousand words.
Google+- Google is trying to create an online world that centers around the company and Google+ is a better idea than the predecessor Google Buzz. I also feel like some people on Google+ are just there to garner traffic to their sites by only sharing links, but if you find the right people to connect with the social network can be powerful.
