My Top 5 Favorite Blackberry Apps

**Guest Post**

I am a true #TeamBlackberry member! I have owned a Blackberry since 2006, and I’ve been through several OS changes and phone types. Currently, I am rocking the Businessman’s/Woman’s best friend, the highly regarded, top-tier Blackberry Bold 9700.

This phone knocks all other Blackberrys out of the box with it’s optical trackpad, 3G Internet speed, and overall easy usability. Below are my top five favorite applications to use on my Blackbery device:

Capture-It

Capture-It allows you to take a “screenshot” of your phone and turns it into a .jpg that can be emailed, MMS’d, etc. I love Capture-It because when I am showing someone how to do something on my Blackberry, I can take a screenshot and send it instantly. I only use Capture-It for good, however, I am sure that it can get some people in trouble because you can screenshot very private information. Capture-It is a free app and is available by searching on Google for a direct download.

Berry Weather

Berry Weather is an app which appears on your BB’s main screen and it displays the current temperature. It can also show you the weekly forecast, severe weather alerts, and anything else weather related in your chosen city. Berry Weather has a free three day trial period, and after that, you can purchase it for $6.99. It can be downloaded at the Blackberry World App Store on your device.

Social Scope

Social Scope is a social networking beta app that can be used for the following: Twitter, Facebook, Facebook fan pages, Flickr, Myspace. This one program can be used across board to get your networking on. No need for opening several devices! It’s user friendly and because it’s invite only, a trendy app to have. It’s also free! To sign up for your invite, go to http://www.socialscope.net and enter your information. They roll out invites every few months.

Visual Voice Mail

I used to hate pressing 1 and scrolling through messages only to get to the message I want to hear. Now with visual voice mail (which has been available on the iPhone), I can go to a specific message and listen to it and delete it or save it if need be. You can download Visual Voice Mail at the Blackberry World App Store, although most new devices already have it installed.

Foursquare

I am so addicted to Foursquare, it’s a shame! Foursquare is a geo-location app that allows you to check into various locations for points and badges. When you check into the same place several times, you are awarded a Mayorship which may entitle you to discounts and free schwag! If you are not on Foursquare, you are missing out on the next wave of social networking. Download Fourquare on your Blackberry by going to Foursquare.com on your device’s browser. Voila!

If you are a fellow Blackberry enthusiast, I highly suggest that you download the applications I mentioned to help you with the overall usability of your device. Have fun!

I gave up Foursquare, but I still love Social-Scope. It’s been the best Twitter app I’ve seen for Blackberry and is probably better than the program I use in Linux.
Wish my curve had 3G, otherwise I think Opera Mini might be a real contender top apps I use.
