An iPhone can be used for virtually anything. With a GPS app you can eliminate your pricy GPS unit and utilize your iPhone. I am a fan of the GPS apps. They are considerably cheaper than purchasing a GPS unit and has many features.
TomTom and Garmin are the leading two GPS iPhone apps. Both apps have an interface that resembles their respective GPS units.
