Major Update To The Allrecipes iOS App

If you updated your Allrecipes Dinner Spinner app today, you should have noticed that you can now scan barcodes to add items to your grocery shopping list, search recipes, or store the barcode to keep a virtual pantry.

I have been a longtime user of the Allrecipes Dinner Spinner app on my iPhone and a user of the actual Allrecipes website. A few years ago when they added the feature of creating a shopping list to their website, I loved it. Now that the same feature is available on the app along with the ability to scan more shopping items into the list, I love it even more.

One great way to use the grocery item scanner ability to your advantage, is to scan an item that is on sale at the grocery store this week. Then search for recipes that have that item as an ingredient in them. This way you can save money at the grocery store AND have a great meal with the items that you purchase on sale.

It seems like everywhere you look someone has a tablet. Tablets have become hot and even those who don’t own a laptop or even a desktop are purchasing tablets to connect to the digital world. Becoming the owner of a new tablet just makes since. It is almost needed in our day and age. The price of buying a tablet are reasonable and the pros are plentiful. Portability: Tablets are small and easy to take along with you on the commute to work or in the kitchen when whipping up a fabulous dinner. They are thin and easy to read. They keep us busy when we are bored, help us keep up with what is going on in the news and entertains us with friend updates, cool games and keeping up with our favorite blogs. Productivity: Lagging that laptop around to get stuff done at work becomes a pain in the you know what. Socially: Social media is a part of all of our lives. Tablets help you stay connect to world with social media apps. My boss purchased a new iPad for an elderly friend of hers a couple of weeks ago. The point of the gift was to reconnect the 78 yr old woman with friends and family. She was a bit depressed and did not have an interaction with many other people. Now that she has an iPad that she can take with her from her house to the local coffee shop, she can keep connected with friends and family, play social games, keep up with the news and even read a good book.

Until today the popular photo sharing social network Instagram was only available for use via the iPhone app. Users snapped pics from their iPhone or iPod and edited the images with built in filters, then shared them with the Instagram community and also their Facebook or Twitter followers if they chose to. Well, welcome all the Android users to the Instagram platform the popular app is now available in the Android Marketplace.

Think Like A Man iPhone App Review

Lucky me, a friend of mine recommended a handy book to me last year called Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man by Steve Harvey. I skimmed through the book for tips to communicate and understand my husband. I really can’t say I learned a whole lot, then again I can’t really say I read the whole book. But now I don’t have to read the book. On April 20, 2012, the movie Think Like A Man, Act Like A Lady opens in theaters.

Based on Steve Harvey’s best-selling book, Think Like a Man follows four interconnected and diverse men whose love lives are shaken up after the ladies they are pursuing by Harvey’s book and start taking his advice to heart. When the band of brothers realize they have been betrayed by one of their own, they conspire using the book’s insider information to turn the tables and teach the women a lesson of their own. The movie is directed by Tim Story and written by Keith Merryman & David A. Newman.

To help bring awareness to the movie, you can play the dating game with the Think Like A Man App for iPhone. This app lets you play along with characters straight from the movie. You choose either a female or male date and go through a series of comments throughout a lunch, dinner, and desert. The responses range from funny to serious. Another Year Down, Many More To Go

Every year on April Fools Day I become another year older. Even though I tell everyone I am just turning 22 again, I am actually in my mid 30′s. This year was one more year to reflect on what I have accomplished and what I still need to accomplish in my lifetime.

I had a pretty good day, and never expect much. My sister and brother in law took me out to lunch at Fuzzy’s Baja Tacos, (my new addiction) after I had played games quietly on Facebook most of the morning. I had not seen my sister for a couple weeks so it was great to just sit and catch up a bit. Since today was also the last day of the State Fair, I wanted to spend most of the evening with my kids and hubby just riding rides and eating fair food.

After the first ride I was not feeling so well, so I just let the kids ride all they wanted. Then after walking around the South Texas State Fair grounds for a while I realized that I really did not want anything to eat either. None of the unhealthy fried foods seemed to be appealing to me anymore. So I came home and relaxed some before my tribe call with 2 other bloggers.

Last year I had a wonderful birthday cake from Rao’s Bakery. This year I just wanted a new bottle of perfume (since my daughters had used all of mine). My hubby and kids bought me a bottle of Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy.

I am off to another year of being 22….

Finding The Perfect Movie, With Your iPhone

Many people take to the movie theatre every weekend to see the newest movie out. I remember when my grandparents would tell us they were going to the show. I am not a huge movie buff but occasionally like to spend quality time with my kids while taking in the newest picture that has been released.

Technology has made it easier and easier to find the perfect movie to share precious time with your family watching. This past weekend I was able to find show times, trailers, and even purchase my movie tickets using an app on my iPhone. I simply downloaded the app for my local movie theater called Cinemark Theaters. With the app I could see what movies were playing, show times, watch a preview and purchase my tickets. There are several other apps in the iTunes app store that allow you to do similar actions to find the movie of your choice. Those include Fandango, IMDb, Movies by Flixter, and Showtimes.

Leann, Tevin and I all went to watch the movie Chronicle. We had a great time together even though we all agreed that the movie could have been a lot better.

The girls at work are always talking about Pinterest. When I come home and get online I see lots of chatter about Pinterest. Is this new social network, where you pin interesting pictures just a fad? Pinned pictures can be things you just like, are interested in, get ideas from, or even a message. When you pin the picture the image with the original link is shared with all the people who follow you on Pinterest.

Since I work at a tile design center, I made the suggestion that all the girls (I work with all girls), start a Pinterest account. Each girl should pin their own tile designs and also pin other designs. By pinning others designs they can get inspiring ideas. By pinning their own designs they not only give others inspiration they also market themselves as a tile designer along with their beautiful work.

The sky is the limit on how you utilize Pinterest. Another girl at work uses Pinterest to store wedding ideas. I use Pinterest to collect DIY ideas, interior designs, show off shoes I like, and share creative technology. I know other bloggers who use Pinterest to primarily promote their blog. This is does by pinning their posts in Pinterest with the goal of having their followers either click the link or repin so their followers will click the link.

There is an old saying that pictures are worth a thousand words. Pinterest is holding that saying up. Just by viewing a users pin boards you can easily see their likes and interests. If you haven’t yet started your Pinterest account, you should, it gets quite addictive.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t like the government censoring my life. Let your representatives know that you against internet censorship. The SOPA act in the Senate and PIPA act in the House are proposed.

Many sites went black today to join the protest against SOPA and PIPA including internet giants like Google and Wikipedia and many smaller sites like mine. I did not choose to black out my entire site, just a few words on your first view of my site. This is what the internet would be like if it were censored. You may see some things but not everything. Corporate giants could take down smaller sites easily just by coming at the smaller entrepreneurs with well paid lawyers and threats of copywrite infringement violations.

Yesterday Ford unveiled the new 2013 Ford Fusion to the media at NAIAS. Ford said that consumer’s interest in mid-sized vehicles will increase and redesigned the focus to accommodate. I love the new look of the Ford Fusion especially the front grill. Check it out for yourself.

The new 2013 Ford Fusion comes in standard, 2 Eco-Boost options, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. The plug-in hybrid is boasting up to 100 mpg but won’t become available until the fall.

Ford executives mentioned emotional buying from consumers many times. Their research has obviously told them that consumers are looking for fashionable cars that make life easier. There are still those car enthusiast that look for what is under the hood, but many consumers simply want a stunning car with amenities to drive.

To meet the amenities need of consumers, Ford has integrated their best technology in the 2013 Ford Fusion. Ford has focused most of their technology of SYNC with MyFord Touch on keeping the drivers eyes on the road. After connecting your mobile phone to the system via Bluetooth, your contacts, your music and much more is synced to your car. Access your information with SYNC Voice Activated technology. Ford has also added a lane keeping system that vibrates the wheel when your steering seems to be veering out of its lane.

Ford isn’t saying yet which trip package will get which amenities but will be tiered in S, SE, and Titanium trims.
