Editorial Calendar Plugin For WordPress

When do you blog? Do you write posts and publish them immediately? Or do you write a lot of posts and schedule them to be published at a later time or day?

I blog both ways. Sometimes I have a hot topic I want to talk about right then and publish it as soon as I finish writing it, typos and all. Other times I plan out blog posts so I don’t have a lot of similar topics posted back to back. I don’t want to annoy my readers.

In WordPress it is easy to schedule posts. However if you writing a lot of posts, it is not as easy to see which ones are scheduled to post when. That is where the Editorial Calendar plugin comes in handy.

wordpress editorial calendar

The Editorial Calendar shows a calendar that you can scroll through. You can click on a date and a box pops up to add a post idea and even quickly write on the topic. Then you can click edit below the post title and get the full visual post editor. After you schedule the post to be published you can easily look at the calendar to see what you have scheduled when. You can also drag and drop the posts to different days.

I was truly impressed with the Editorial Calendar plugin. I find it easy and necessary when scheduling blog posts to be published.

  1. Looks great for when you want to jot notes on which days, does it integrated with your actual posts and say show what posts are publishing which days for next month as well as your “idea’s” Or is really for task management?

Loving the look of this, I’m definitely going to give it a try – good for my personal blog but also really useful for client blogs that we manage. Thanks!

I just installed this plugin to my personal blog but haven’t used it yet. I think this plugin will become very handy for me as I never know what I am going to post on a daily basis but If many come to mind, I can post them on different days. Thanks for sharing this plugin! BTW, I just found your Tech blog and love it.

Hi Jessica, I have a couple questions. I had a plug in that was deleting my posts- WP Manager, so I had to delete it. I like several plug ins – like this one -but my host told me the fewer plug ins the better for my site.

What is your opinion on that? How many plug ins do you have that are active?
I have 8. Just the essentials-SEO, Askmit, etc.

I need to install a plugin to back up my site since it was on WP Manager, which one is the best and safest to install?

    Thank you:)

      Hey Tracy,

To back up your site, use WP-DB backup. You can set it up to back up your database as often as you like and have it email you the backup.

Yes, you should have as few plugins as you can. I break the rule, and I dont have any issues. I have about 40 active plugins, but I feel that I really need and use all of them. The editorial calendar is a back end plugin so it does not slow your page load. The WP-DB backup would be the same thing. Of the 40 only about 20 are for the front end of my site. I do not use a SEO plugin because Genesis (the theme I use) comes with it built in.

      Hope that helps!!

  5. This sounds neat (and like something I need). Off to check it now now. Thanks Jess!
