Organize Your #BlogHer11 Itinerary Using Tripit

Attending conferences can be overwhelming. Deciding which sessions to see, what parties to rock out at, and who you need to meet up with can be confusing.

I found a great app that can organize it all for you. Tripit finds your travel details and organizes them in to an itinerary that can be accessed on the web, iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Andriod or on the web.

TripIt turns chaos into order by making it easy for anyone to:

  • Organize trip details into one master online itinerary — even if arrangements are booked at multiple travel sites
  • Automatically include maps, directions and weather in their master itinerary
  • Have the option to book restaurants, theatre tickets, activities and more right from within the online itinerary
  • Safely access travel plans online, share them, check-in for flights, or print an itinerary

First you will need to sign up for a FREE account with Tripit. After signing up, you will be asked to scan your email for travel information. If you use Google Apps or Gmail, Tripit will scan your calendar also. Within minutes of signing up for my Tripit account, travel details were already available on Tripit. It had scanned my email and found Eventbrite information and added the content and scheduled time and date to my Tripit itinerary. I also connected my airlines account to Tripit so my flight information could be easily added. After connecting the Tripit account to my airline account, I received a confirmation email telling me:

We received your email and your travel itinerary is ready. We’ve also automatically added daily weather, local maps and other helpful information to your TripIt itinerary.

A few events that were in my email to Tripit did not get added to my Tripit itinerary. I simply searched my email for those events and emailed them to plans@tripit.com. Once received, the information is electronically processed and added to the trip. One invite did not get added. After I sent it via email, it was stored in unfiled. Tripit could not understand the email so it stored it for me to login and edit the information. It was easy to login and edit the information to add it to my Tripit itinerary.

Now all my travel plans for BlogHer in San Diego is stored in one place that I can access from any of my devices- iPhone, iPad, or laptop. I can access and manage the trip on my iPhone with the Tripit app.

With the PRO Tripit account y be kept in the know with status alerts by text or email, including flight delays and cancellations, alternate flight options, check-in, gates and baggage claim.
