bThis is the second part of Blogging While Brown. You may want to catch up with my previous Blogging While Brown article.
So I told you about visiting the White House. I am glad that our administration recognized bloggers with some level of importance. I know we don’t have the following of the major news papers and magazines, however we do have a following. And collectively our followers may be of greater numbers than some of the traditional media sources.
Moving right along. On Friday evening we had the initial meet and greet. Of course I was late because I was trying to charge my dead phone, but I did finally get there and met some interesting folks.
I met Curt from the NAACP, Wilma from Wilma Jean ‘s Blog, Reggie from Reggie Levine, and a few interesting others. We had some wonderful food that I had never seen before, but it did taste good so I was good. At the meet and greet we also played games. I ended up playing UNO in which I won both games and received a Logitech Laptop Pad.
After the meet and greet a few of us decided to have dinner at Bus Boy’s and Poets, a DC restaurant inspired by Langston Hughes. Interesting place. Eating dinner was @DoktaDiva, @TheCubicleChick, @Glamazini, @NotoriousSpinks, @LeReg, @MsLeJean, and @CurtJohnson. We arrived at abut 11:30 pm and all ordered our food including me ordering a salad, adding cut up grilled chicken to it, and 2 breadsticks on the side. @Glamazini (Roshini) ordered tea and hummus. Well about an hour later we realized we had not yet received our food, our waiter was MIA, avoiding us, and had never even refilled out drinks, just left us there slurping on melted ice. Danyelle (@TheCubicleChick) caught the waiters attention only for him to give us a very sorry excuse that they had a crowd and the kitchen was backed up. In fact, he also explained that the manager was going around telling the patrons. That was great, but no one ever thought we were important enough to be told. Danyelle also explained to the waiter that tea and hummus did not need to be cooked. He turned around and brought the tea out with a dirty cup and about 2oz of water. And even after complaining, we never had our drinks filled. In fact since the waiter would not come talk to me, I had to yell at him as he was filling someone else’s drink. He placed 8 glasses of water at the end of one table. Too bad most of us were not drinking water.
After waiting another 30 minutes or so our food actually came. When I asked for my breadsticks the server asked me if breadsticks was a drink. Ummmmm……..
Then he began arguing with me that they did not offer breadsticks, and the manager also got rude with me about the non existence bread sticks. I just wanted the waiter to come explain what he explained to me. That is all. Take a look at my cut up grilled chicken. It was so burnt, I could not even eat it. ![]()
Finally we left and walked down the street to our room. Did I mention who my roomies were? I roomed with Danyelle (@TheCubicleChick) and Roshini (@Glamazini). On the way back to the room, we saw some transsexual prostitutes. That ain’t something I see everyday down here in Texas.

There should be an award for bad service and they would win hands down. I hope you guys did not pay that bill. One thing I can say is your were truly amused when you were outside-lol!
We did not have to pay in the end, but they sure were trying to get us to. You are from that neck of the woods. Are you familiar with this restaurant?
I’m in the Philly area. The funny thing is I was just in DC last weekend in the Dupont Circle area eating in a bookstore/cafe on Friday night. Hopefully this place has stepped up their service.
They even tried to charge you for the breadsticks?? Unbelievable. What a horrible experience!! I am glad you are tweeting them – attention should be brought to this, most definitely.
I am glad at least you had fun women to hang out with – that helps a lot : )
I can’t wait to read Part 3!

Well, @thecubiclechick got the manager in check, after they even tried to charge us for the non existent bread sticks. We ended up not having to pay for the horrible experience.
They knew you were a Texas gal, so they brought you some Mesquite Chicken!
That is what my hubby said. “Is that bbq chicken”.
Ok you’re on timeout ’cause you posted the trani hookers O_O *dead*. You need to send this post to @busboysandpoets ’cause they need to know. I would but I can’t here at work #fail. You also forgot to mention that when my tea finally arrived the cup was dirty AND I only got 1/2 a cup of hot water O_O. #messy
I added your tea. I also tweeted them. Hopefully they come to read how customers were treated. #fail #fail #fail.
The hookers were awesome. I have seen a lot, but I had never seen that before.
I don’t see transsexuals around here, either.

After @TheCubicleChick had her way we did not.
Wow, what a night. That sucks about dinner. I am a MAGNET for terrible service. Honestly, I never go eat when I am “hungry” because I would be chewing the silverware by the time I was fed. It never fails – it takes forever and I get an idiot waiter.
Nearly spit my water on the screen at the tranny though, that’s pretty funny.
Honestly, the only places we received good service while we were in DC was the fast food restaurants. Thumbs up to Burger King and Quiznos.
